One Down, Three to Go

A couple years ago, I (Sheryl) decided to knit two-strand Fair Isle sweaters for everyone in our immediate family.  In the ensuing time, the Philosopher's Wool yarn was purchased from vendors across the continent, Michael was born, the sleeves and most of the bodice of the first sweater were crafted during a lengthy road trip, and then the project was set aside as I scrambled to deal with the demands of work and four little hands more than willing to help move yarn around as they saw fit.

In the process of unpacking a few weeks ago, I came across a knitting bag with the first sweater waiting to be discovered and finished.  The kids were far more accommodating, and I finished the sweater earlier this week.  I intentionally made it huge, knowing that I wanted it to still fit one of the kids by the time the other three sweaters were finished. In fact, it is supposed to be a cardigan, with buttons up the middle, but I thought if I finished the neck like I did I could easily convert it into a cardigan when one of the kids needed a little more room.

Becky thinks it is pretty enough to look at, but it doesn't really compete with her "beautiful dresses" that she lives in at home.  Fortunately, it is about a size five, so there is no rush for her to wear it before she outgrows it.

One week until spring break and it's snowing out again.  The snow is now covering the three-foot tall fence in the back yard.  We are only about four inches shy of claiming the all-time snowiest winter in Juneau title.  With snow forecast for the week, it seems like it might just happen.  Then it would be all right with me if it just melted overnight.
